My Philosophies
I provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum birth support to women in the Lake County and surrounding areas. I firmly believe that the creation of life, the birth of a soul, and the development of a mother are experiences that require deep reverence - profound awe and respect. These experiences should not be given flippant attention, but diligent and personal care of utmost regard.
Women have been uniquely designed to create life in their wombs. Immediately after God joined together man and woman in Eden, He blessed them and told them to "be fruitful and multiply." Bringing forth a new generation is holy work, whether one realizes it or not, and our society's perspective on motherhood and birth has lasting impacts on the generations to come. Everything about feminine design is awe-inspiring - from the way only a woman's pelvis is shaped to guide a baby to the earth, or the way breasts produce such nourishing milk, or how a placenta is a completely new organ that is created to interlay nutrition and so much more to the growing baby.
Furthermore, this design influences the woman and baby during the labor and birthing process. Having full confidence in a creator not only applies to our bodies, but also applies to the abundance of resources given to us through herbs and foods to positively impact and prepare our body for labor. Knowing and applying proper nutrition and proper herbal medicine is also a key factor in healthy and successful birth outcomes. Science and statistics have shown and proven that a doula who uses ancient and traditional practices to support a laboring woman greatly improves positive outcomes, increases the likeliness of a healthy mom and baby, greatly reduces the risk of emergencies and reduces the use of medications.

About MeHi! I'm Meggie, The Reverent Doula. I am a Florida native who married another Florida native in 2015. Since then, we have had two beautiful children and hope to have more. Our first was born at home while our second was transferred to hospital from home for a possible placenta abruption. We live together in Leesburg where we enjoy time together and raise our kids.
While I was pregnant with my second child in 2022 and I was exchanging birth stories with a friend (yet again), I realized I could talk about birth stories forever and never get bored. I began to think maybe there was more to this passion than superficial conversations. It was then that I began to pray for direction and considered becoming a doula. Everything about this field was important to me - natural medicine, motherhood, education, and mentorship. It was everything I loved all in one. After a few months of prayer and discussions with my husband, I decided this was indeed a divine calling on my life, affirmed by many friends and family around me. I sought out a certification program and fell in love with Hartland College's doula certification under their midwifery program. I attended this very fast-paced course in May of 2023 and received my certification with an A+. Since then, I have loved every moment of teaching childbirth education classes and supporting women in the journey of motherhood. |
